Someone in a shop wrote up this list for us when we asked about wine stores that might carry some interesting older Burgundies. We look forward to visiting all of these caves on the list some day.

Another cave that I would add to the list is one we stumbled across after an afternoon eating oysters with vin ordinaire at Les Pipos called De Vinis Illustribus. This shop specializes in very non-ordinaire rare and old wines dating back as old as a century. The owner and his son are exceedingly helpful and can arrange private tastings in their beautiful cellar upon request.

Paris Wine Cave

The building goes down many levels creating an appealing space to house their precious wines. There are 2 additional levels below the first cave and as I understand it, it was used for centuries by the nuns of nearby Saint-Etienne-du-Mont as a cellar to store their food until the Revolution during which the church was closed then later was turned into a Temple of Filial Piety.
