Chablis 1er Cru Vaulorent Vineyard
The Marcel et Blanche parcel is situated in an area of the Vaulorent vineyard just beside the Grands Crus. The vines are more than 30 years old and enjoy a southwest exposure. The soil is from the Jurassic epoch, or more precisely the Kimmeridgean age (150 million years ago). Deposits of tiny oysters can be found in the rock, which were left by the shallow sea that once covered this territory.
Moderate production methods with emphasis on limiting vine intervention to allow the authenticity of the soil to express itself naturally and fully. Environmental friendly techniques are used including fertilization according to soil analysis and no use of insecticide or acaricide.
Chablis 1er Cru Vaulorent is vinified in both steel tanks and 2-4 year old barrels. The simplest methods possible are used, in order to let the minerality and the complexity of “Vaulorent” shine through.
“Vaulorent” is very complex, it builds brilliantly and it possesses and excellent balancing acidity.
Pairs wonderfully with shellfish and sea food platters. It is also great with poultry, anything that includes mushrooms and dishes with veal or pork, for example jambon à la Chablisienne.
